Instructions:
Prepare Your Workstation: Set up your cooking area by placing all your ingredients and equipment within reach.
Boil Water: Fill a frying pan with enough water to cover the Frankfurt sausages. Place it on the stove and heat the water to a simmer. You don't want it to be boiling vigorously, as this can cause the sausages to split.
Add Frankfurt Sausages: Once the water is simmering, carefully add the Frankfurt sausages to the pan using tongs. Make sure they are fully submerged in the water.
Simmer: Allow the sausages to simmer in the water for about 5-7 minutes. This will heat them through and ensure they are fully cooked.
Check for Doneness: After 5-7 minutes, use the tongs to remove one sausage from the water. Cut it in the middle to ensure it's cooked all the way through. The interior should no longer be pink or raw.
Prepare Buns: While the sausages are simmering, you can toast your hot dog buns in a toaster or on a griddle if you prefer them toasted.
Assemble: Once the sausages are fully cooked, remove them from the water using tongs. Place each Frankfurt sausage inside a bun.
Add Toppings: Add your desired toppings and condiments to your Frankfurt sausages. Popular choices include mustard, ketchup, onions, sauerkraut, relish, and more.
Serve: Serve your cooked Frankfurt sausages immediately while they are still hot.
